Outreach Services
Developing and implementing responsive and meaningful community outreach
programs is a vital component of SBC’s mission. Over past fourteen
years we have offered programs in our initiative to eradicate breast cancer
as a life threatening disease and provide preventative and survival information
and techniques to women and their families. A glimpse of these programs
include:
Breast
Cancer Support Groups
Provides support
services and hope to breast cancer survivors and their family members
Presents educational
awareness programs on early detection of breast cancer and how
to
perform breast self exams. This program is targeted for uninsured and
underinsured women.
Provides clinical
exams and mammograms for the targeted population.
Established chapters
in Atlanta and DeKalb County Georgia meets monthly
Breast
Health Start and Mammography
Provides breast
cancer information and care for homeless women living in shelters
Provides clinical
breast exams and free screening mammograms according to American
Cancer Society guidelines
Homeless Mammogram Project
Provides breast
exams and mammograms for women living in shelters
Education and Awareness Forums
Provides educational
programs in public and private sector institutions
Breast Cancer Awareness Education Weekend
Free weekend
event featuring educational seminars facilitated by distinguished and
renown breast cancer specialists;
Luncheon featuring
local or national celebrity
Produces and
hosts amateur Golf Outing and Tennis Tournament
Produces and
hosts an annual celebration of survivorship
Provides an evening
of entertainment with a national artist |
