Collaboration
From its inception,
SBC has lead Metro Atlanta breast cancer support groups by establishing
a Health Fair in which free health screenings and educational resources
on this disease are disseminated throughout Atlanta and DeKalb county.
To date, over 5,000 citizens have participated in these annual events
and have received the latest breast cancer research and survival information.
Building collaborative partnerships since 1990 has produced numerous
health related events and educational series. Partnering with the American
Cancer Society, the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer at
Morehouse School of Medicine, other local physicians, SBC has conducted
Breast Self Exams Seminars. Since 1993, SBC in conjunction with Metro
Surgical Associates has produced and hosted “Sister Girl: A One
Woman Battle Against Breast Cancer”, which depicts a true story
of an African American woman’s experiences with breast cancer.
Over 3,000 attendees have seen this play during Breast Cancer Awareness
Month featuring the talented Brandyn Barbara Artis. SBC collaborates
